SINGAPORE - Presidential candidate Dr Tan Cheng Bock, 71, said that if it was down to a two-horse race between him and Dr Tony Tan - who was elected as President this morning - he would have stood a better chance of winning. Said Dr Tan Cheng Bock: "I'll stand a much, much better chance because those who voted for Jee Say and Kin Lian would have voted for me." Describing how close the fight was, Dr Tan Cheng Bock said that when 80 per cent of the votes were counted, both him and Dr Tony Tan were neck to neck. It was in the final lap, when the votes from Sembawang - where Dr Tony Tan previously represented as a Member of Parliament - were counted which gave the former Deputy Prime Minister a push towards the finishing line.
