saw a parked taxi catch fire at Bedok. The cause of this was probably the burning offerings on the carpark kerb, said the STOMPer. Jason related over the phone (Aug 28): "This happened near the Bedok North 511 market today, around 6.15pm. "At first, the fire was small, then within three minutes, it became a big blaze. "Firemen on motorbikes arrived at the scene within three minutes, and managed to control the fire. "Shortly after, a Red Rhino and a fire engine arrived at the scene too. "The taxi driver was not present at the scene -- he must have parked there to go have dinner at the nearby market. "I believe the cause might have been the candles and other burning offerings on the kerb. "These were directly under the parked taxi -- and the taxi was parked properly.
