A reader asks: Should the first-past-the post voting system be reconsidered? #sgpresident

The sky opened up and cried for the losers, but had poured in buckets in certain parts of Asia and heavily in the Eastern coast of North America with 12 deaths. Who will head into the sunset of their lives after this PE 2011? The result was very close. Singaporeans have collectively made their preferred choice of EP by a mere 0.34 percent difference, an extremely narrow margin of 7269 votes between the winner [744,397 votes or 35.19%] and the closest loser [737,128 votes, 34.85%]. The moral starting base is very low indeed for this 7th presidency. I am glad that none of the three has accepted the decision in defeat crest-fallen with acrimonious regrets. I hope they have accepted the result with sincere gratitude, genuine humility and honourable graciousness.
