Ministerial Salaries – Can Economics Explain? #singapore

I agree that ministerial pay can only be resolved politically. I believe it will be the same conclusion many other reasonable Singaporeans will reach, without even going through the analysis that Dr Ivan Png has undertaken. Political resolution of ministerial pay means that the motivation of a politician is, first and foremost, to serve the country and people. That motivation to serve the people means that the question of pay does not arise. This means that ministers should look to this as a calling and will accept what is reasonable amount of pay that befits the political office. It certainly does not depend on the GDP growth of the country, neither to the pay pegged at the top earners of the 6 professions. Neither will money attract political talent. That assumption in the political context has never been validated. The 3 ministers quoted above have completely bastardize...
