To all worried about future of bookstores, our reader says:"If anyone wants to read books for free, there's the library."

THERE is another reason, besides the increasing popularity of online books, that more and more bookstores are going bust ("Bookstore's future covered in uncertainty"; Aug 19). The fact is that Singaporeans go to a bookstore to read and not buy books. In addition, a lot of these book browsers do not take care of the books or magazines, ruining the mint condition of the reading material. Therefore, it is not surprising that bookstores are no longer commercially viable. If anyone wants to read books for free, there is the library.
