Our reader says the proximity of the GE and #SGpresident election made some confused about differences between the two.

AS THE dust settles on the presidential election, I would like to offer some views on this historic polls. The time gap between the general election (GE) and the presidential election was three months. Some voters were confused by the differences between the two elections, and took spillover GE issues into this election. Future elections should be staged at least a minimum of nine to 12 months apart to avoid this. A resident at my estate shared that he voted for a certain candidate because he had promised to give back half of his salary. This may be considered vote buying, though the candidate may not have intended it. No candidates should be allowed to make statements about how they will use their salaries.
