ORDOS, Inner Mongolia: Every corner you turn, you are almost sure to find a hotel. They are designed to meet every need in this resource-rich city. Many have special mahjong rooms that cater to wealthy locals, who play the game to pass time. The room booking itself costs over US$100. Zhao Yong Quan, a hotel manager, said: "Each time they spend about seven to eight hours. They have the habit of coming here to play mahjong, when they have nothing to do after work." Many people here do not give an extra thought about spending money and no special reason is needed to check into a hotel. Yang Zhi Zhong, a local, said: "The way some of the people spend money has changed after they became richer. For example, a few friends might gather to dine at the hotel, play cards, have a long chat etc. If they don't feel like going home, they'll just book a hotel room to sleep in." However, ...
