10 years after hijacked planes crashed into New York's World Trade Center, we look at the legacy of the 9/11 attacks

On the morning of Sept 11, 2001, terrorists flew two hijacked planes into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York, killing 2,753 people. Another hijacked plane struck the Pentagon, killing 118 and an additional 40 others died when yet another plane crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pa. The moments and hours that followed left searing images of the unfolding tragedy.
