Yam-mee mooncakes: Returning Officer Yam Ah Mee makes mooncakes for charity

He became a national treasure thanks to his role of announcing May's General Election results. Now, Returning Officer Yam Ah Mee has added another string to his bow - making mooncakes. The People's Association (PA) chief pitched in yesterday at an event at the Parkroyal Hotel, during which 1,589 of the snacks were made to give to the needy. The event was organised by PA and Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurants to encourage those from different backgrounds to care for the less fortunate. Mr Yam was joined by Mr Richard Eu, group chief executive of Chinese health care firm Eu Yan Sang International, and Courts Asia chief executive Terry O'Connor.
