This is about $3.7 million more than in 2009. A possible reason for for the increase in drug seizure include an increased supply of heroin and methamphetamine in this region. The number of drug abusers, however, has gone down, compared to 2009. Last year, 1,772 abusers were arrested, 111 abusers or 6 per cent less than in 2009. The number of drug abuser arrests has remained stable since 2007. Heroin and methamphetamine continue to be the top two drugs abused. While there was a decrease in overall drug abuser arrests, 99 more heroin and 22 more methamphetamine abusers were arrested were arrested in 2010 compared to 2009.
