14-year-old arrested for making bomb hoax calls to the Police emergency ‘999’ hotline

SINGAPORE — A 14-year-old youth has been arrested for making bomb hoax calls to the Police emergency ‘999’ hotline. From about 9am yesterday (July 30), the police said that they received several anonymous ‘999’ calls claiming that the caller would bomb Singapore. After “extensive ground enquiries”, police officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested the suspect at his home, in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 today at about midnight. “Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect had no intention or means to carry out his threats. Investigations are ongoing,” said the police in a statement. If found guilty, the suspect could be fined up to S$100,000 and/or jailed up to five years. mail print View all comments Tweet Share on Tumblr
