[CNA] SingTel CEO meets with Thai PM ahead of AIS verdict

SINGAPORE: Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. said on Tuesday that its Group CEO and other senior executives have met with Thai Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, in Bangkok, to discuss developments in the telecom industry. The meeting came ahead of an expected decision by the Thai cabinet on Tuesday, involving SingTel's Thai associate Advanced Info Service (AIS). The Thai information ministry is submitting a report seeking compensation, reportedly as high as US$2.3 billion, from the nation's three biggest mobile-phone companies, including AIS. The other two telcos involved are Total Access Communication, and True Corp. unit True Move. According to a SingTel press release, Group CEO Ms Chua Sock Koong and SingTel CEO Singapore Mr Allen Lew thanked the Prime Minister for the opportunity to meet him and expressed appreciation for his attention to the developments in the telec...
