The 69-year-old intends to remain with United for as long as he feels healthy enough to cope with the stresses and strains of life at Old Trafford. But Ferguson, who decided to retire and then changed his mind in 2002, knows the day will come when he no longer wishes to continue in one of football's most pressurised jobs. When that happens, the Scot, whose side are currently top of the Premier League, intends to walk away completely rather than seek another position in the game that has been his life for so long.
