Debtor repaid colleague by #attacking him with knife

HE WENT to repay a loan from a colleague but instead of money, he went armed with a knife. Yesterday, Mohammad Ridwan Rashid, 29, was sentenced to two years’ jail and three strokes of the cane for an armed attack on Mr Muhammad Firzan Abdul Rahman, 25, last August. The offender, an assistant storekeeper, was also fined a total of $100,000 on five counts of assisting a loan shark in the business of unlicensed moneylending. If he is unable to pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional 21/2 years behind bars. He pleaded guilty yesterday to all the charges. A district court heard that both men were working for Schenker Logistics in Loyang Crescent last year. On his day off on Aug 12, Mohammad Ridwan called Mr Muhammad Firzan and accused him of spreading rumours that he was borrowing heavily from colleagues.
