CNA journalist thought Thai word "Facebook = Pakpakom" from Royal Institute. Actually this came from @macroart

BANGKOK: The use of Facebook is extremely popular in Thailand and experts fear this may cause a decline in the use of formal Thai among youths. Despite its popularity, most teenagers interviewed in Bangkok's Siam Square said they did not know the term "pakpakom", the proper Thai term for the social networking site. It was coined by the Royal Institute of Thailand. There has been concern that typing in English on social media could impede Thai teenagers' Thai typing skills. Some people say typing romanised Thai is easier and saves time, compared to typing Thai scripts. One Thai girl said: "Typing Thai words involves too many consonants and vowels (for just one word). Typing in English sometimes needs only one short word and it is done." Romanised Thai is also known as karaoke language it appears as subtitles in Thai songs.
