KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia will repeal its Internal Security Act (ISA) in March after two replacement laws are drafted, Prime Minister Najib Razak said this evening. The Prime Minister, who is also the UMNO president, told reporters that his promised reform timetable will begin with the repeal of the Banishment and Restricted Residence Act when Parliament reconvenes on Monday. "Next week, I will begin the process but ISA will be done in March as we need to draft two new laws," Mr Najib said, after chairing an UMNO supreme council meeting. Mr Najib also said that amendments to the Police Act will likely be tabled in next month. The proposed changes will allow for freedom of assembly, other than street protests.
