Worker found dead in four-storey deep pit on Jurong Island

When rescuers reached him more than two hours later he was already dead, his body partly covered by sand and seawater. Safety coordinator Fahmy Roslee, 21, went to the pit at Alstom Power Singapore's worksite in Jurong Island at 4.30pm yesterday to conduct an inspection after getting reports that seawater was leaking into the pit. The pit, next to the sea, was the worksite of a seawater inlet which would channel in seawater used to cool machinery. More in The New Paper on Thursday (Oct 6).
