SINGAPORE - Magnus Bocker, CEO of the Singapore Exchange (SGX) said the global economy is responsible for SGX's price slump this year. Still, Mr Bocker said tightening regulation and better technology are the way ahead. It has been a tough year for SGX, and for its shareholders attending the exchange's annual meeting today, having watched their investment drop 26 per cent from its peak six months ago. Mr Bocker attributed the price drop, which has exceeded the 18 per cent slide in the benchmark STI, to global conditions. The SGX's failed takeover of the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) this year - which cost it S$12 million - gave the Singapore company a profile it could probably do without.
