Car rental on the rise in Beijing: BEIJING: Car ownership in Beijing is getting increasingly

BEIJING: Car ownership in Beijing is getting increasingly restrictive with the government's latest move to curb the number of new cars allowed on the roads. Some 700,000 cars were sold in Beijing in 2010 but only 240,000 licences will be issued this year through balloting. The policy aims to curb the number of new cars joining the city's congested roads but it remains to be seen how effective the policy will be. Beijing may be able to curb the number of car buyers, but it probably can't stop people from wanting to drive. More people are acquiring driving licences and their demand to drive has triggered the growth of the car rental industry. One company is offering a viable alternative for aspiring drivers.
