For every 5 mins parents are late in picking up their children from kindergarten, they pay $2

SINGAPORE - For every five minutes you are late, you pay $2. That is what one PAP Community Foundation (PCF) kindergarten has told parents who are tardy in picking up their children from school, after repeated reminders did not work. It is an issue a number of other kindergarten operators face, and PCF (Bedok Branch)'s alternative is this "penalty charge". In a Jan 20 letter to parents, principal Zarinah Ismail said: "By fetching your child/ward late, our teachers' lunch break will be cut short, and teachers who are going on course in the evenings have to forego their dinner because they have to rush to attend their classes." Ms Zarinah declined comment when MediaCorp visited the kindergarten at Block 30, New Upper Changi Road yesterday, but a PCF spokesman said the branch was the only one out of its 84 branches to have such a policy.
