Former foreign minister George Yeo named senior adviser to Kuok Group

Mr Yeo served 23 years in Government, helming various ministries. Former foreign minister George Yeo has been appointed senior adviser to Malaysian conglomerate Kuok Group. Mr Yeo, 57, told The Straits Times on Tuesday that the appointment was made on Sept 1 and that it was 'an informal arrangement'. 'I'll join private sector next year. Not decided yet what or where,' he said. The Kuok Group, which is run by 'sugar king' Robert Kuok, deals in chemicals, scrap steel and fertilisers. Mr Kuok's nephew, Mr Kuok Khoon Hong, is the chief executive and chairman of oil palm firm Wilmar, which is listed on the Singapore Exchange.
