An ex-employee of M1(and owner of a $200,000 stingray) was ordered to pay $2.06m in damages to the telco

THE High Court has ordered a former employee of M1 to pay $2.06 million in damages to the telco after he allegedly pocketed proceeds from selling more than 3,000 handsets, The Business Times reported on Wednesday. The High Court had reportedly granted M1 a default judgment against Matthew Yeo Kay Keng. M1 had sued Yeo in November last year for breach of his employment agreement, breach of duty of fidelity, fraudulent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment. Conducting a check, M1 had found that the number of handsets reportedly sold by him were far greater than the actual number of subscriptions keyed into the system. It then discovered that Yeo had generated stock order forms for non-existent orders supposedly placed by his customers. He then allegedly offloaded the handsets to resellers and kept the cash.
