The 30-year-old Al Ansar Mosque in Chai Chee will be undergoing a makeover, with upgrading works slated to commence in July 2012. -- ST PHOTO: CHEW SENG KIM By Stacey Chia The 30-year-old Al Ansar Mosque in Chai Chee will be undergoing a makeover, with upgrading works slated to commence in July 2012. Al-Ansar Mosque chairman, Mr Zahid Ahmad, made the announcement on Friday at the mosque. In his speech in Malay, he said that one major setback the present building has is its lack of barrier-free accessibility, such as lifts and ramps, which are facilities needed badly by the elderly congregants. Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, was the guest of honour at the event. Worshippers can expect a bigger prayer space, as well as more family-friendly facilities among other new features.
