There's a reason that polo is called the sport of kings. For Singapore Polo Club president Leon Chu, hobnobbing with royalty comes with the territory of playing the high-octane sport on horseback. In between sips of Veuve Clicquot at last Saturday's semi-finals of the Shanghai Tang Women's International Polo Tournament 2011, Mr Chu mentions his visit two days earlier to the palace of the Sultan of Johor to extend an invitation to the man. The Sultan's son also plays; "he's building two polo fields in his own palace now", shares Mr Chu, who runs his own antique and couture jewellery shops in Raffles Hotel. And only a week earlier, he was invited to dinner by the Duke of York Prince Andrew, a former polo player, during his visit to Singapore last month. Dressed in a Massimo Dutti pink shirt and bespoke polo pants, the 47-year-old father of two is clearly at home at the club'...
