MPs call for review of housing, healthcare policies - Channel News Asia

SINGAPORE: Housing and healthcare were among a wide range of topics raised as MPs started the parliamentary debate on the President's speech on Monday. Kicking off the motion to thank the President, MP for Sengkang West Dr Lam Pin Min said the general election was a watershed event in Singapore's political history. He said the political landscape is being dramatically altered with the Internet and social media. Already, a survey following the National Day Rally conducted by the government's feedback unit, REACH, found that 8 in 10 respondents agreed that the government should be more active and adept at engaging Singaporeans online. On healthcare, Dr Lam said the funding framework needed to be reviewed to help Singaporeans cope with rising medical costs.
