Engaging customers with reality butterflies - TODAYonline

WITH The Body Shop's new iPhone app, online customer engagement has taken flight - in the form of augmented reality butterflies offering discounts, freebies and product and brand information. Launched locally on Sept 23 to coincide with the beauty brand's 35th birthday celebrations, the recently concluded iButterfly Asia app bridges the gap between online and real-world customer relations. At each The Body Shop outlet, customers who have downloaded the app swung their iPhones through the air to "catch" the butterflies, which are only visible through the phone's camera viewfinder. Successful butterfly hunters redeemed their butterflies at the cashier. The campaign, which had two successful previous runs in Tokyo and Hong Kong, ended on Sunday.
