MFA smartphone apps to help Singaporeans abroad

From early next year, Singaporeans abroad can use their smartphones to receive information or seek help from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Responding to queries from The Straits Times, MFA said it will be launching its own apps on Apple, Google, and Android platforms in the early part of next year. When launched, the smartphone applications will help users find the nearest Singapore overseas mission based on their current location. Users can also receive consular information and services on the go, said MFA. The ministry launched a dedicated website in 2009 to make it easier for Singaporeans to register online before travelling overseas.
