App helps nab iPhone thief by snapping pic -- and sending it to owner
iPhone owners now have a new anti-theft tool in their arsenal. A man was arrested after his photo was automatically snapped and sent by an app to the rightful iPhone owner, when he tried to unlock the stolen iPhone. According to news reports, New York police said a 23-year-old man had snatched a woman's iPhone. When he tried to unlock the phone, the anti-theft app known as 'iGotYa' took his picture -- and emailed it, as well as his GPS location, to the victim. The iGotYa app is available online but not on iTunes. STOMPer Gotcha comments: "This is a great idea! "I hope this app is introduced to iTunes as well so that more owners can protect their phones, and more importantly, their data. "Currently it's only available for jail-broken iPhones."
