MINDEF will publish annual list of those who disrupt NS to pursue studies, says Defence Minister Ng

SINGAPORE - As he maintained that there is no preferential treatment in National Service (NS), Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen announced yesterday that the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) will publish annually a list of those who disrupt NS to pursue University studies for public scrutiny. This is to assure Singaporeans that MINDEF implements the policy of selected disruption for university studies fairly, openly and in accordance with existing criteria, said Dr Ng who was responding to a parliamentary question. MP Lim Wee Kiak (Nee Soon GRC) had asked if President Tony Tan's son's prolonged disruption from NS adhered to the MINDEF's policies, and if he had been accorded preferential treatment.
