Volcano erupts in central Indonesia, no injuries
JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - A volcano in central Indonesia has erupted, spewing hot smoke and ash thousands of metres into the air. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. Mount Lokon, located on northern Sulawesi island, had been dormant for years before rumbling back to life several months ago. Surono, a government volcanologist who uses only one name, says it unleashed two strong eruptions on Wednesday. They were preceded by several smaller blasts hours earlier.
