[TODAY] Rich S'poreans not as confident as Asian peers

SINGAPORE - Wealthy Singaporeans are least likely to buy a flashy car, most of them are worried about job security, and they are not as confident over their prospects of getting richer as many of their Asian peers are, according to a study by Standard Chartered Bank and wealth management consultants Scorpio Partnership. According to the inaugural "FuturePriority Report: Just what are Asia's Wealth priorities?" released on Friday, 48 per cent of the affluent from Hong Kong want a car that makes a statement and 54 per cent like to be publicly identified with charity, compared to 23 per cent and 34 per cent of affluent Singaporeans, respectively. The study, based on responses from 1,800 individuals from across Asia with average investible assets of US$1.3 million, showed that in Singapore, 76 per cent feel their wealth will increase in the next 12 months, compared to the Asia...
