Teens caught stealing from unlocked cars

In response to "Up" in "I cannot comprehend with whats the use of stealing cash cards? can buy food using cash card?" I even more CANNOT comprehend why teenagers in the prime of their lives, would resort to stealing cash cards and jeopardise their bright futures when being caught and punished by authoriities. Are they short of cash or in some sorts of financial difficulties which forced them to steal or just out of sheer fun in doing so. If they THINK before they act, they will be surprised to find out that there are a lot of useful activities awaiting them to participate rather to engage in these silly thefts. Fortunately they have been caught and learned a valuable lesson in life, if not, they will progress to other forms of more serious crimes when they come of age as adults.
