SINGAPORE: The Volkswagen 2011 Women's World Cup will start on Friday. Hosted by Singapore, the event will see 19 of the top women players from around the world battle it out for the title and the US$150,000 prize money. A draw was held on Thursday to determine who the players meet in the first round. The top seeds are spread across four groups, with Singaporean Feng Tianwei in Group C. Feng, Singapore's top-ranked female paddler, is pleased with her draw as she will avoid meeting players from China in the earlier stages of the tournament. She said: "Compared to the last World Cup draw, this one is slightly better because in the last World Cup, in the group stages I had to meet a player from China." Leading Group B is China's world number two, Ding Ning, while compatriot Li Xiaoxia, the world number one, is in Group A. Singapore's two other paddlers, Wang Yuegu and Li Jiaw...
