Bus driver flees to Malaysia after he was involved in an accident on Friday that left an elderly woman dead
The driver of SMRT service 858 fled the scene and crossed the Causeway on his motorcycle. The 28-year-old driver abandoned SMRT service 858, which had 20 passengers on board, after the bus allegedly ploughed into pedestrian Ng Sew Hong, 60. But the driver, a Malaysian, was arrested at the Woodlands Checkpoint after he returned from Malaysia about seven hours after the accident. The Straits Times understands that he turned himself in after receiving calls from SMRT as well as the police.
