WHEN asked about the most memorable moment in his long and varied career in the travel and tourism industry, Mr David Scowsill does not wax lyrical about splendid white beaches or tales of treks through the African savannah - though he has certainly relished such experiences. Rather, the president and chief executive officer of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) recounts a harrowing event during his early days as a graduate trainee with British Airways. "I was working in Antigua, dispatching aircraft, and my girlfriend was coming to visit me," he says. "Unfortunately, her aircraft developed a problem.
