She dominated compatriot Li Xiaoxia 11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 14-12, 11-9 to pocket the US$45,000 (S$56,000) prize. Ding, 21, becomes only the fourth female paddler to win both the World Table Tennis Championships singles title and the World Cup. China has swept all 15 World Cup titles since 1996. The day, however, ended in agony for Singapore ace Feng Tianwei as she slumped to her second 1-4 defeat (11-3, 6-11, 9-11, 5-11, 9-11) to Hong Kong's Tie Yana.
