Volkswagen 2011 Women's World Cup SINGAPORE - Right now, table tennis star Ding Ning (picture) is not slated to play in the women's singles event at next year's Olympic Games. China's Li Xiaoxia, the world No 1, and 29-year-old veteran Guo Yan, the world No 3, have already qualified for the 2012 Games, which will be held in London from Jul 27 to Aug 12. If she continues her current form, though, 21-year-old Ding Ning will make it difficult for the Chinese coaches to ignore her quest to strike individual gold in London. Yesterday, the reigning world champion sealed her first triumph in the US$150,000 (S$186,300) Volkswagen 2011 Women's World Cup when she beat her compatriot Li 4-1 (11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 14-12, 11-9) in front of a capacity crowd of 2,000 at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall.
