Egyptians in Singapore celebrate

SINGAPORE: A group of Egyptians in Singapore have held celebrations to mark a new beginning for their country. 18 days of protests had forced Mr Hosni Mubarak to step down as president on Friday. Some 30 people gathered at restaurant Cafe Le'Caire at Arab Street for the event, with most of them being Egyptians who are working here. They said the event was to show solidarity with the people in Egypt and also to remember the sacrifices of those who lost their lives during the protests. A moment of silence was done to mark this. At least 300 people died in the protest which began on January 25. Those Channel NewsAsia spoke to said they felt liberated but were anxious about their future. Others were optimistic that Egyptians back home will see success in rebuilding the country. Shereen Mohd Idris, an Egyptian-born Singaporean, said: "For anyone with an Egyptian background this...
