Former property agent jailed for cheating, forgery

SINGAPORE: A former property agent convicted of offences such as cheating and forgery was sentenced on Monday to four-and-a-half years' jail. Thirty-eight-year-old Anika Priyadharshini originally faced 69 charges involving nearly S$300,000. She pleaded guilty to 23 of them last month. 44 charges were taken into consideration and another two were withdrawn. Anika, who has had two failed marriages, is the mother of three children aged between four and eleven years old. Her lawyer, Sunil Sudheesan told the court that part of the money his client had taken was used to pay off her second husband. This, so that she could get access to her two younger children - a four-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl. Anika had admitted that she cheated two of her former clients of nearly S$59,000 in 2008 and 2009. She also forged the signatures of three people including her ex-boyfriend, 3...
