New Fitness Conditioning Centre opens in Kranji

SINGAPORE: The defence and education ministries, along with the Singapore Sports Council, have formed a workgroup to review the NAPFA and IPPT fitness tests to see if they can be better aligned. The last such review was done in 2005, and the latest one will "fine-tune and update NAPFA's test standards". NAPFA is the National Physical Fitness Award scheme that school students up to the junior college and polytechnic level take part in, while the IPPT is the Individual Physical Proficiency Test used to test the fitness of national servicemen. The review announcement was made at the opening of the new Kranji Fitness Conditioning Centre (FCC). The FCC is a recommendation of MINDEF's RECORD V committee, which looks at the well-being of national servicemen.
