In Parliament: Bosses who penalise employees taking MCs are committing an offence and can be fined

EMPLOYERS are committing an offence when they penalise their workers for taking sick leave, said Ministry of Manpower's Senior Parliamentary Secretary Hawazi Daipi on Monday. And employees who feel they are not allowed to take sick leave or penalised unfairly for doing so could seek help from the ministry or their trade unions, he added in his reply to Dr Ong Seh Hong (Marine Parade GRC). Dr Ong had asked for the avenues available to employees punished for reporting sick during Chinese New Year, which was on Feb 3.
