Public will get access to SMS flood alert by mid-year

Announcing this on Monday, Environment and Water Resources Minister Yaacob Ibrahim said the service, which is free, is now offered only to building owners and schools in flood-prone areas. Asked by Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim (Marine Parade GRC) how the system fared during recent trials, Dr Yaacob said feedback indicated that it was "well utilised". "We (now) want to extend the system as wide as possible," he added. Interested users will have to subscribe to the service, provided by national water agency...
