44th war memorial service for civilian victims of Japanese Occupation: SINGAPORE : The Singapore Chinese Chamber...

SINGAPORE : The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) held its 44th war memorial service for the civilian victims of the Japanese Occupation on Tuesday morning. As part of Total Defence Day, the annual memorial service took place at the War Memorial at Beach Road. The event began with a siren sounded by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). The Education Minister and Second Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen also joined in the service. Some 1,200 people, including representatives from the SCCCI, religious organisations, business and clan associations, as well as families of the victims, attended the service.
