Future sustainability of IRs depends on several factors: S Iswaran

SINGAPORE : Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry S Iswaran said the long term sustainability of Singapore's Integrated Resorts (IRs) depends on several factors. In an interview with Channel NewsAsia, Mr Iswaran pointed out that one factor is how people will respond when the novelty of the attractions wears off. Another is the external environment, taking into account other products available regionally. Playing a part too will be the new offerings of the IRs. Marina Bay Sands will be launching its ArtScience Museum, and Resorts World Sentosa has its Maritime Xperiential Museum set to open in mid-year. Mr Iswaran said the government is keenly tracking the casinos' visitorships, and has regular dialogues with the attractions on those numbers.
