S'pore Muslims renew commitment to strengthen families

SINGAPORE: Singapore's top Islamic religious leader, Mufti Dr Mohamed Fatris Bakaram has urged Singaporean Muslims to renew their commitment to strengthen families. He also asked them to build on the good work that the Malay Muslim community has done so far. Muslims gathered at mosques islandwide for the annual Hari Raya Haji prayers on Sunday. Minister for Information, Communication and Arts, who is also Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, was at Hasanah Mosque at Teban Gardens where he witnessed the Korban or sacrificial rites. Dr Yaacob also commented on the role parents have in strengthening family cohesiveness - a message which was contained in the Mufti's sermon on Sunday.
