S'pore makes monetary contribution to help Brazil flood victims: SINGAPORE: The Singapore Government will make a...

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Government will make a monetary contribution of US$50,000 to help those who have been affected by the severe floods last month in the three Brazilian municipalities of Teresopolis, Petrpolis and Nova Friburgo. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the help is at the request of the Brazilian authorities. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had written to Brazilian President Dilma Vana Rouseff on January 15. Subsequently, Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo had also written to Brazilian Foreign Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota on January 18 to express their sympathies on the loss of lives and destruction caused by the floods.
