Singapore to donate US$50k in Brazil flood aid: THE Singapore government will donate US$50,000 ($64,000) in huma...

A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Singapore government will donate US$50,000 in flood aid to Brazil. -- PHOTO: AFP THE Singapore government will donate US$50,000 ($64,000) in humanitarian assistance to help those affected by floods in Brazil, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had earlier written to Brazilian President Dilma Rouseff on Jan 15, to express sympathy on the loss of lives and destruction caused by the floods, which affected the three Brazilian municipalities of Teresopolis, Petrpolis and Nova Friburgo in January. Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo had also written to Brazilian Foreign Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota on Jan 18 to express sympathy for Brazil's plight.
