Indeed, it is high time for governments to give renewables an equal footing with its fossil counterparts. Through these years, fossil has been enjoying much support with subsidies whereas very little leverage is available for renewables. FiTs are one of the mechanisms that would allow renewables to take off. The story, however, should not end there. With fossil prices remaining volatile (McKinsey had actually projected another oil price shock more likely to happen in the near future), plus growing concerns on the effects of climate change and stability of supply, we are left with nothing but to support the renewable energy industry. Posadas make it clear that this would not happen rapidly rather it would take time - more possibly following the same long periods of fossil fuel transitions before it finally dominates our primary energy source.
