AWARE has called to better support women with caregiving roles in Budget 2011. -- ST PHOTO: ASHLEIGH SIM SINGAPORE'S leading women's advocacy group has called on the Government to better support women with caregiving roles in Budget 2011, to be announced on Friday. The Association of Women for Action and Research (Aware) believes doing so will help redress income inequalities between men and women, it said in a paper released on Wednesday. The paper covers six areas: transparency of data, families with children, caregiving, people in financial distress, women's health and women and employment. One key recommendation is for the Government to beef up the quality of childcare and daycare centres, so that women will feel at ease knowing that their children and elderly family members are wel...
