More support for SMEs to develop workplace health programmes

SINGAPORE: More funding will be given to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that want to introduce workplace health programmes. The government will increase the quantum of the Workplace Health Promotion grant from next year. The aim is to get 80 per cent of SMEs to have a programme in place by 2015 - that's double the figure from now. After a hard day's work, it's time to wind down with some yoga. At least that's what the staff at Seng Hua Hng Foodstuff enjoy doing. The company enrolled in the Workplace Health Programme two years ago, to take care of its employees who have worked for two to three decades. And the fruits of its labour are starting to show. "I do observe that the medical certificates that they take are less. They are healthier and there is a difference between those who do regular exercise and those who don't," said Damien Tong, HR manager of Seng Hua Hng F...
